In 1979 the TC 2000 had its presentation tournament that was won by Osvaldo Lopez with a Peugeot 504. In that tournament, José Miguel Pontoriero won two races with a Dodge 1500.
The following year a pre-tournament is scheduled that finally becomes just a race that takes place in Buenos Aires and is won by Jorge Omar Del Rio. That same season the first official championship of the category was developed, were the rivals of the1500 They were mainly the official Ford Taunus coupe prepared by José Miguel Herceg, the Peugeot 504, Fiat 125 and some Opel K-180.
Already from this first tournament, the hegemony of the Chrysler car is demonstrated, given that Jorge Omar Del Rio becomes the champion, although with a slight difference of two points over Esteban Fernandino (Ford), winning in 3 of the 9 disputed dates.
The dominion of the "professor" Del Rio on board the Dodge began with the title, of 1980, something that would be repeated in 1981 and 1982 being the runner-up in both tournaments another pilot 1500, Ruben Luis Di Palma.
In 1981 both pilots won 4 races each (8 Dodge victories over 11 disputed dates).
The following year, 1982, was seen to win only one time in the category in a single tournament since the 11 dates on the calendar had the Dodge on the highest step of the podium 6 times won the champion Del Rio, 4 Rubén Luis Di Palma times and Carlos Crocco on one occasion).
The domain of the then VW 1500 would continue in 1983, crowning the "crazy" Ruben Luis Di Palma who prevails in the tournament over the Ford Taunus official Mario Gayraud. That year the champion won 4 races, and the "professor" Del Rio also won.
